PROJECTS IN THE PIPELINE 2021

The more members we get, the more we can put back into this great facility. In the pipeline we have quite a few works either quoted for, scheduled in, or underway.

Sports Bar

Demolition work has begun, and upstairs has been opened up to make room for a large 6m wide sports bar. Huge 75 inch TV screen, some comfy booth seating to cap off the sportsbar. The zone will be above courts 4 and 5 and is going to look amazing. The bar will be run by the Somerton Squash Club, a non for profit organisation to raise funds to put back into Squash development and necessary building works to help improve participation. But a drink and support the game!

Chill Out Coffee Zone

For the rest of the upstairs area above courts 2 and 3 we have an out of the box design where people can chill out and relax after a game, catch up with friends and enjoy a drink.

Beer Garden

We can’t wait for this to start. Most of the tropical vegetation has been purchased and is sitting at our family home. Only timber decking, some lighting and landscaping needs to be done to make a tropical Balinese retreat feel out the back of the courts. This will be a hidden tropical oasis to enjoy a cold drink.

FOBs Keyless Entry & Security

Almost complete, and probably will be complete by the time this gets read. 7 Security cameras, and keyless entry FOBs so members can come and play almost anytime they choose. This is a game changer as members won’t have to wait until the squash courts are open and can now play whenever it suits them, as many times a week as it suits them all for a low price. Win Win Win!

Gym

Finally complete. Court 7 has been transformed into a commercial grade gym with state of the art equipment. Cardio, pin loaded weights, cables and some free weights. We are always looking for feedback on what type of gym equipment you’d love to see in there. And if there’s a less popular machine, let us know too. We value member feedback. This gym adds huge value for members who want to go the extra mile and get fit and strong.

Sauna

Yes, there is a Sauna here, but it hasn’t been used in 20 years. We have a quote to reinstate the western red cedar benches, the Western red cedar walls are still there and it has that beautiful sauna smell. And Infrared heading is being priced up now. We are very excited about this.

Air Conditioning

We have a quote to do Air Conditioning. While this doesn’t sound as glamorous as a beer garden or a new Sports-bar, Air Conditioning has been unanimous as to what people want next. Our sport can truly be a 365 day a year sport, but we understand how hot it gets in summer and cold it gets in winter. It’s a huge area to work with, but we are exploring the best options and have now narrowed it down to the best quote that will have the most impact.

Flooring

There might be a surprise hiding under the chipboard floors. We are about to lift up court 2 very soon and find out.

Front Walls

Court 1 especially has some uneven surfaces from years of patching. In the near future we are looking to get this particular wall perfect again.

Reception Area

We are in talks with a flat-pack kitchen company about a new and slightly smaller reception area. this will open up the foyer, creating a bit more space, and make for a more minimalist reception area.

Windows into the Courts – Glass Doors

This one might be further down the track. But sections of the back wall either side of the doors on Court 1 and 2 can be cut and Glass can be put in. This is a great look when people visit and can see movement and action on the main 2 show courts when they arrive.
Glass doors are also in the mix for all courts to also allow some viewing, and to show which courts are in use.

LED Lighting

Down the track, we are looking at LED lighting to brighten the place up, and reduce electricity costs.

Bathroom Renovation

Again, down the track due to costs. But we definitely want to update the bathroom facilities.
