Get your children involved in a super fun sport! Kids love squash, and we have a huge emphasis on fun, often incorporating balloon targets, bouncy castles, and a range of other gimmicks to make it “more than squash” for the youngsters. Squash can be played all year round, it’s great for coordination and fitness, and make new friends with our group junior coaching.

We have some of the best junior squash coaches in the country offering their services at Somerton Squash Centre. These are players who have achieved great heights as Squash players, and have done the accreditation and years of coaching. There will be no better environment for junior squash programs than Somerton Squash. Sign up for our squash lessons today.

How do I get my kids involved in junior squash?

Come on down, Thursdays from 4:30 to 5:30pm during the school term and ask to join in. The coaches will make you feel welcome and you can train in a group environment which makes it even more fun.

Our coaches are also parents, and squash players. So whilst they have all the accreditation on paper to be a great coach, they also have that little bit extra real life experience as well from watching their own kids grow up.

All our coaches are accredited and with relevant working with children and police clearances. Our coaches love the game, and still play it! They volunteer their time because they believe the next generation should learn about this wonderful sport.

Our Junior Squash Program:

Our junior squash program caters to players from 6 to 15 and is held on Thursdays from 4:30pm during school terms.

The junior squash coaching runs all year round and is extremely affordable at just $10 per lesson (at the time of writing this article.)

This is made even more affordable by the fact everything is provided, and we can also assist with the Sports for Schools vouchers (A government initiative which provides cash back) which makes squash lessons virtually free.

Come along on Thursdays from 4:30pm, it doesn’t matter if it’s mid-way through a term, you’ll fit right in, as we are working with children of all ages and abilities.

We are fortunate to have great coaches, and a number of courts where we can come together to listen to the coaches, then spread out among the courts to practice the new skills.

Parents, you are welcome to stay and watch from upstairs. We have tea and coffee and a fully stocked bar as well. Or treat yourself to a bit of a break while we look after the kids for you. Go take an hour off! You’ve got Glenelg just up the road, or some close local beaches for a bit of “you” time. Just please remember to come back at 5:30 and pick them up at the end of the lesson!!!

Why should my child play squash?

From personal experience, squash keeps a lot of people on the straight and narrow. It’s a healthy sport, and a sport you can play on your own if you feel like bashing the ball against the wall. Squash was voted the number one sport for all components of fitness (Strength, power, endurance, flexibility, speed, agility)

It’s a great all in one workout you can do while having fun.

Playing squash as a junior can set your kid up for a healthy lifestyle and a happy life.
